Cooking meals at home not only saves you a large amount of money each month, but you are also learning techniques and gaining creative skills in the kitchen.
Cooking at home can also teach your children how to cook healthier meals in the future, and will save them money as well. Cooking meals all at once that will last for the next couple days also saves a lot of time in the long run as well.
You will almost always have leftovers as well and with those leftovers, you can create different meals from recipes that can easily be found on Google.
#1: You’re saving a TON of money when you cook at home.
An activity you can do this month with your family is to keep track of how much money you are spending at restaurants, including fine dining and fast food. You will be quite surprised to see how much money you are spending.
Even worse, most of the time these foods are filled with many different ingredients that are horrible for the body. These foods are (most of the time) filled with ingredients that will actually make you hungrier after, making you want more and more food.
As long as you know what to buy at the grocery store and where you’ll save your money, you’re all set. Find the cheapest grocery store near you, and use coupons only if the coupon is of a food you actually plan on eating.
#2: You’re teaching your kids how to cook and eat healthy.
Kids like seeing how their food is being made. Even better, they enjoy joining in and helping cook the meal as well. If you have a garden, have your kid join you in helping feed the plants and pick them.
Kids find it quite exciting to see food growing in the backyard and this will create life long habits for them as well.

#3: You’re gaining creativity skills and potentially creating a new favorite hobby.
This will boost your confidence and help you host parties at your house, instead of going out on the town and spending even more money on drinks and food. Start hosting parties at your house and have friends bring a dish, while you create the main meal or dessert. This will show off your new skills to all of your friends and potentially inspire someone to start cooking their meals at home.
Do you think you’ll start cooking at home? Although it might seem time consuming, you’re ultimately saving time with transporting back and forth from the restaurant you are eating at. You are also saving time on the food being prepared, and the amount you spend on the food and the tip itself.
You also know what is going in your food, which is becoming more and more important to people as the country is leading towards the more health conscious side. In the end, you are spending the same exact time cooking the food as if you would be driving to a restaurant and waiting for the meal itself. The meals you make at home can be very nutritious and your kids will benefit in as many ways as you will from the home cooked meals.
Do you cook your meals at home? What do you think would make cooking at home easier?
I love cooking meals at home. I also love trying to try a new recipe, my daughter prefers to eat the food that I cooked.
