Whenever I don’t have a checklist in hand or a set schedule for the day, I know I won’t get nearly as much done.
Here are the different things I do to help me manage my time better.
1) Have a checklist.
Having a tangible checklist in hand for you to cross out or check off will allow you to see what exactly needs to be done for the day. When you’re able to see with your own eyes everything that needs to be done, you’re more likely to get it done.
For me personally, seeing a long list of things that need to be done makes it more likely for me to do them. I get this boost of motivation to complete everything early. Which leads me to my next point.
Before you go to sleep, also have a to do list or schedule ready for the next day. This will enable you to not feel rushed in the morning and you also will have an idea of what time to wake up. Whenever I have a bunch of errands to do, I know I’ll have to wake up earlier than I usually do. Waking up earlier not only makes me feel more motivated and inspired to get all of my tasks done for the day, but I also don’t feel rushed. Whenever I feel rushed, I half-*** my work which obviously doesn’t benefit me much either.
2) Do something that motivates you for the day.
Go for a run or do some kind of workout that really gets your heart pumpin’. I’ve noticed whenever I get my workout in first thing in the morning, it pushes me to get even more done throughout the day. I or me, this would be waking up between 5-7AM.
I either go to yoga and get an early workout in, or do Les Mills Pump at home. Whatever workout I choose to do, I decide to make sure it’s a tough workout in where I’ll have to push really hard throughout. The harder the push and the more I struggle, the better the reward at the end. I then have a feeling of accomplishment and know I’m capable of anything.
I’ve realized whenever I don’t workout first thing in the morning, I not only find excuses not to finish it later, but I also feel extremely less motivated to do anything throughout the day. All that is on my mind is completing my workout.
3) Eliminate distractions.
If you are looking for ways to manage your time better, then one of the things that you will need to do is to eliminate the distractions in your life.
This means turn off the television when you are trying to get things done, escape from social media, try not to procrastinate, and so on.
How do you manage your time? Do you have any cool ideas/advice to manage our time better?
