With the following recipe, you can make the pizza dough ahead of time and keep it in a ziplock bag in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. This is extremely handy to have on hand when you are tired and don’t want to put much effort into cooking.
Quick, Easy & Good Pizza Dough
1 pkg active dry yeast (or 2 1/2 tsp)
1 cup warm water
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp salt
2 Tbsp oil
2 1/2 cups flour (I use wheat)
Dissolve yeast in warm water, stir in remaining ingredients, beat vigorously. Allow dough to rest (covered) 5 minutes up to two hours. The dough will rise and create a light and fluffy crust.
When you are ready to make your pizza, do the following: Take a section of the dough and on lightly greased 12×15 pan, pat dough out with floured fingers to edge of pan and bake for 7-9 minutes at 425 degrees. Remove from stove and spread sauce, toppings and cheese. Bake and additional 10-15 minutes at 425 until the cheese is melted.
Store any additional dough in a ziplock bag (I roll it into a ball) for up to two weeks.
I always keep the following items on hand so I can quickly make a pizza
- Pizza sauce or spaghetti sauce ( I like Trader Joe’s Spaghetti Sauce)
- Mozzarella Cheese (I keep an extra bag in the freezer at all times)
- Oregano (I love to top my pizza with this before baking)
- Turkey Pepperoni (one of my favorite toppings!)
- Green Pepper
When you store this pizza dough in the refrigerator, you can quickly make a pizza that is not only good but very inexpensive. I can get 3-4 9inch pizzas from this dough recipe because I roll mine out pretty thin. If you like thicker pizza, you should easily be able to get 2-3 pizzas from the recipe.
