Improving my way of life and bettering myself is something that I find very important. Becoming a better person and feeling confident about yourself is important because how you feel about yourself affects all aspects of your life.
I’m a firm believer in trying new activities and and finding out what makes you happy.
Below I am listing five activities that I participate in either daily or weekly to improve my way of life. Working on personal growth is something that should be at the top of everyone’s list, no matter where you are at in life.
I recently started participating in meditation after reading an article on the activity. It shocked me when I saw all of the benefits meditating has had on people, yet many don’t partake in the act.
This activity takes a mere 10-30 minutes a day depending how much time you have. It’s best to do it in the morning, although you will benefit from it at any time of the day. Meditation allows you to relieve stress, anxiety, and any negative feelings you have pent up. Another awesome thing about meditation, is that it’s free and available to you whenever and wherever you are on sites like YouTube.
2. Show random acts of kindness to people all around you.
This can be free or very cheap, depending on which route you take. I am and will probably always be volunteering at somewhere, because helping others makes me feel good. I am currently volunteering at a humane society, after being inspired by seeing all the animals on the streets of Peru.
All I do is take out the dogs for a walk around the track a couple of times, and they love it. Dogs need to be socialized with just as human beings do, so find a place near you to volunteer at and give some of your time to the needy.
3. Always keep a to-do list on hand.
A to do list keeps my mind in check and reminds me of what I need to get done. Some days I will even write out a schedule of what needs to get done, and the time frame I have to do so. This improves my sense of time and makes sure I don’t slack off by spending time on Facebook or other social media outlets.
4. Learn a new language.
I am currently learning Spanish online (for free might I add) and it has made me gain confidence and also helps with my memory and brain function.
Learning a new language opens you up to a whole different world you aren’t used to. Being intermediate or at an expert level of another language allows you to visit the country and get into deep conversation with people that are native to that country, allowing you to experience a different type of world you aren’t used to otherwise.
5. Recognize your flaws and see what you can work on.
Last but not least, learn to love yourself even if there is something you aren’t too fond of. If there is something that you can work on, do so and take action to do it.
Do you participate in any of the above ways to improve your life? What other ways do you think a person can improve their life for free?
