89 miles one way? As in 178 miles round trip PER DAY or 890 miles per week and 44,500 miles a year (figuring 50 weeks)?
I couldn’t believe it.
I know jobs are scarce these days but I got to thinking about what is the true extent you would go to get a job? I mean I know the majority of people want to work, but what is the cutoff where a job just isn’t worth going to because it starts to drastically effect your quality of life?
I had a job in the past where I commuted 38 miles one way. I really hated that commute because my evenings were determined by how the traffic flow went for that day. If it was raining or snowing or there was an accident, I could forget trying to get to where I wanted to go on time. It just wasn’t going to happen. There were nights I remember it taking me over 2 hours to get home. For me, that just doesn’t work. Spending 10-15 hours per week in a car is just a waste of time.
So what about you? How far would you drive to a job? How far have you drove and how did it effect your life? Please leave a comment below to share your experience/thoughts.
