For me, I have 3 more weddings to attend, and while I am looking forward to it, I know that wedding costs can really get to others. For me, they don’t bother me as much because I have learned how to save money during wedding season. It probably also helps that I LOVE weddings 🙂
Here are 5 ways to save money during wedding season:
1. Look for coupons or discounts.
For most places where couples register, there is usually some sort of coupon. The most common place people register is Bed Bath and Beyond, and this store often sends out 20% off coupons that you could use.
Also, if you prefer giving gift cards, you can also search for discounted gift cards online to a place that the couple likes going to.
2. Wear an outfit you already have.
For me, I already have a ton of dresses in my closet. I definitely do not have to buy a brand new dress each time I attend a wedding.
Instead of spending money on a new dress, I’m sure you have something in your closet that you can already wear. Raid your closet and have fun mixing some pieces together.
3. There are cheaper hotels.
The bride and groom may give you a recommendation of where to stay, but there are probably cheaper places out there for you to stay as well. If you are on a budget, then you may look into staying at a cheaper hotel or motel, or even renting a short-term rental for one night.
4. Save on transportation.
If the wedding is within driving distance, then you may look into car pooling with someone else or another couple. Maybe someone could be the designated driver so that no one has to buy a taxi or pay for a hotel room. This will also save on gas costs because you can split the fuel expense.
If you need to fly to the wedding, I recommend trying to find the best deal on airfare. Search early, buy a minimum of 6 weeks ahead of time, compare prices, and so on.
5. Say no.
If you truly cannot afford a wedding, you can always say no to attending it. There is no rule out there that says you MUST go to a wedding.
Have you attended any weddings so far this year?
