Even though it’s only July 6th, it’s never too early to start preparing for the winter holidays. I believe the earlier, the better. I even know of people who do all of their shopping just days after Christmas, when everything is hugely discounted.
Plus, many of the tips below can also be applied to graduation parties, weddings, birthdays, and more.
As presents and holidays are becoming more and more expensive, it is very important to find ways to save money and create ways to cut corners somehow.
1. Shop for presents on Black Friday.
I’m not even just talking about Christmas presents, buy ALL of the presents you will need on Black Friday. You will save so much money and also save a lot of stress over the year from buying gifts.
If you work ahead of time and figure out which items the person you are a getting a gift for wants, that will also make it a lot easier to get the shopping done. I like to have a plan ready ahead of time, instead of shopping and doing everything last minute.
2. Make a list of everything you need.
As I somewhat stated above, make a list of everything you need to buy. When a person goes shopping without a plan and list of what to buy, it becomes incredibly easy to deviate from what you actually went to the store for.
You might even end up looking at items you want to buy for yourself, but don’t currently have the money for.
3. Buy right after the holiday is over.
This might be taking it a little far, but you could even buy your holiday decorations after each holiday is over with, for the next upcoming here.
I know some people might think that’s a little extreme, but in reality you would probably buy the items next year regardless. I’m obviously not talking about buying food and saving it for the upcoming year, but items such as decorations and toys.
4. Become a Pinterest queen/king and get into DIY crafts.
I’ve seen some of the best presents come from Pinterest, and all of the ideas are free. All you have to do is come up with the items needed, which are usually pretty cheap. All you have to do is go on Pinterest DIY section and wala! An endless amount of items/gift ideas will come up. Not only will this save you money, but you also get to work on your creativity skills.
5. Create your own games.
As related to the above, for birthday parties you can come up with games to play from Pinterest. If you haven’t noticed already, I am in love with this site. This site enables you to create ways to save money but also have an enjoyable time with the family. You could also look up DIY crafts for all of the little kiddos to get involved in.
