Working from home is what many people are doing these days as the world is becoming circled around an electronic and internet society. Working from home is readily available to people all around the world depending on what kind of work you are in. Whether you want to be blogger, online fitness coach, or any kind of coach online, it’s getting easier to make a living at home.
Working at home does have many pros, as you get to stay at home with your family and save money on transportation costs from commuting.
You also save a ton of time as well from transporting back and forth from work. The cons of working at home could be easily getting distracted since you are in a relaxed environment or around family members or children.
If you do decide you want to work at home, it is important to put in enough time for it each day and put forth enough effort as well.
1. Create a to do list.
Create a to do list of important things to do every day of the week. This can be done each Sunday so you already have a plan every day for the week.
Make sure to tackle the hardest or most difficult things at the very beginning of your day because this will enable you to focus on other tasks better. If you wait to do the most difficult things at the end of the day, you will most likely put it off until the next day and even worse, you’ll be thinking about that task all day and it will fog your mind and mess with your focus.
2. Eliminate distractions.
Make sure you are working in an area that is away from all distractions. It’s even better to create your working environment in a room that is based solely for work. It is best to stay away from the living room or areas with televisions or other distracting items.
Working will become more efficient if you have minimal distractions possible. In your room, you could display motivational or inspirational quotes around your room. Pick a room with sunlight, where there is natural lighting as this creates a better mood and ambiance in the room.
Have a work station such as a desk with minimal items laying on the desk. I make sure to only put work related items on my desk. Obviously a few photos would be great as well as this will remind you why you work and who you are doing it for.
3. Separate yourself from electronics.
Keep electronics at a minimum in the work room or area you are doing your work. If your cell phone is constantly going off or you have a tendency to check it often, it would definitely be wise to keep it away from the working area.
I would only keep the laptop nearby where you are doing the work. I also would advise to never ever put a television in your working area because this can become quite the distraction.
4. Incorporate fitness into your day.
This isn’t much of a tip to make working at home easier, but if you like to live a healthy lifestyle it would be best to have a walking treadmill desk or a yoga ball to sit on instead of just a chair. Working at home can create an extra sedentary life so making sure to stay healthy while working is very important.
Do you take part in any of the tips I mentioned above? What else would you recommend doing to make working from home easier?
