This recipe for Baked Spaghetti Pizza Pie is an adaptation I made from other baked spaghetti recipes. Most recipes I found called for mixing the noodles and leftover spaghetti together. I decided to make something a little different. I made this recipe up so you can try variations and let me know how it turns out!
This recipe is great for using up leftover spaghetti. The first thing I did was boil the spaghetti noodles and put them in a shallow, greased pan. They should look something like this.
Next, mix 2 eggs with a half a cup of milk until well blended. I usually use a fork for this, it mixes better. Pour the egg/milk mixture over the spaghetti noodles. This will form the “crust” of our baked spaghetti pizza pie. Bake the noodles and the egg/milk mixture in a preheated oven at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.
Once the crust is set, you are ready to take it out of the oven and add your toppings.
I added homemade spaghetti sauce mixed with ground beef (because I had it leftover). You could actually just put the sauce down over the noodles and then add pepperoni, sausage, hamburger or whatever you like. Mixing the sauce and meat is not necessary.
Add any other toppings you like. I opted for mushrooms, green peppers and onions.
Next add mozzarella cheese, I like to layer it on really thick, but you can make it how you like it. Now put this back in the oven and continue to bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes or until the cheese is brown on top.
The only thing I think this recipe was missing was some more flavor in the noodles. You could add some garlic or italian seasoning when you put them in the pan. You could add some ricotta cheese or any other seasonings you prefer to give it a little more flavor.
I generally don’t use recipes for a lot of things, since I cook for one and most recipes serve 4-6, I’ve learned to adapt over the years with a little of this and a little of that! But this is my best estimate at this recipe
Baked Spaghetti Pizza Pie Recipe – From The Jenny Pincher’s Kitchen
- Leftover Spaghetti noodles (enough to cover the bottom of your pan, if you don’t have enough boil more)
- Leftover Spaghetti sauce
- Toppings of your choice such as: pepperoni, sausage, hamburger, peppers, onions, tomatoes, mushrooms, pineapple, ham
- Shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 eggs
- Garlic and italian seasonings to taste
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Boil spaghetti noodles until tender, drain and put in greased pan (noodles should cover the bottom of the pan to form the crust). Mix milk and eggs together, pour liquid mixture over noodles until all noodles are covered. Bake in the oven for 10 minutes to set the “crust”. Once that is done, take it out of the oven and add the toppings. Put the sauce down first (the sauce should cover the noodles), then the meat, vegetables and top with as much cheese as you like. Continue to bake this for 25-30 minutes until cheese is browned on top. Let sit for 5-10 minutes to cool and then cut in triangles like pizza. Serve with dinner salad, vegetable and crusty bread.
